Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • A contribuição é original e inédita, e não está sendo avaliada para publicação por outra revista; caso contrário, deve-se justificar em "Comentários ao editor".
  • O arquivo da submissão está em formato Microsoft Word, OpenOffice ou RTF.
  • URLs para as referências foram informadas quando possível.
  • O texto está em espaço 1,5; usa uma fonte de 12-pontos; emprega itálico em vez de sublinhado (exceto em endereços URL); as figuras e tabelas estão inseridas no texto, não no final do documento na forma de anexos.
  • O texto segue os padrões de estilo e requisitos bibliográficos descritos em Diretrizes para Autores, na página Sobre a Revista.
  • Em caso de submissão a uma seção com avaliação pelos pares (ex.: artigos), as instruções disponíveis em Assegurando a avaliação pelos pares cega foram seguidas.
  • O autor possui Currículo Lattes atualizado, registrando o vínculo a um Programa de Pós-Graduação.
  • O autor possui registro no Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID), possibilitando a sua identificação.Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID)

Author Guidelines

1. Author Guidelines

a) The Philosophy Journal Ipseitas accepts submission of papers, essays, translations and unpublished book reviews, written in Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, English and German. The journal’s editors reserve the right not to publish papers approved by the referees if the number of approved papers exceeds the maximum allowed for each edition.

b) Submitted papers will be evaluated by two referees who are members of the Journal’s Referee Council, or referees who are invited ad hoc. Referees may recommend:  a) publishing the paper without restriction; b) publishing the paper after revising the contents; c) reevaluating the paper after revising the contents; d) rejecting the paper for publication. The paper may be subjected to a third referee to resolve conflicting evaluations by the two referees.

c) The decision to publish book reviews is made by the editors.

d) The editors reserve the right to suggest modifications to the authors in order to adhere the publishing and graphic standards of the journal.

e) The contents of published papers are the copywrited property of the authors. Papers and reviews published in the journal will be subject to license of Creative Commons Attribution / Non-Commercial / Share Same 3.0/ Non- Adapted. The members of Ipseitas Journal will retain the right to reuse published material in future collections of their work, without payment of fees. The permission to reprinting or translation in other media published by third parties is not permitted without consent of the authors.

2. Journal conventions and guidelines for papers

a) Submission of papers and book reviews must be done online through the electronic system available on the journal’s homepage: http://www.revistaipseitas.ufscar.br. To submit papers or reviews, you must fill out the registration form and select the "author" option.

b) Papers and book reviews should be submitted only in "doc" file format (Word) or "odt" (Open Document Format). Authors may optionally attach to their submission a copy of "Tex" (TEX) format, if they use special characters.

c) Papers shall not exceed 25 pages, including references and notes, notwithstanding exceptional cases with special permission granted by the editors. The article must be accompanied by: a) an abstract of between 75 and 200 words in Portuguese, English or French; b) a list of three keywords  for a bibliographic index.

d) Book reviews shall not exceed 4,500 words, including references and notes.

e) The references used will be presented later in the article, in alphabetical order, according to the following conventions (ABNT NBR 6023/2002):

Book: LAST NAME (fully capitalized), First name (initials capitalized). Title in italics: subtitle. All content words of the title capitalized except for prepositions and articles. Translator's name, if applicable. Issue number, if not the first. City, state, and country of publication: Publisher's name, Year (For example: MERLEAU-PONTY, M. O visível e o invisível. Translation of José Arthur Gianotti and Armando Mora d'Oliveira, 2nd Edition. São Paulo, Brazil: edt. Perspectiva, 1984)

Anthology: LAST NAME (fully capitalized), First name (initials capitalized). Essay title underlined. In: LAST NAME, First name (initials capitalized) of the organizer(s). Title of the anthology in italics: subtitle. All content words of the title capitalized except for prepositions and articles. Translator's name, if applicable. Issue number, if not the first. Place of publication: Publisher's name, Year. (For example: PRADO-JUNIOR, B. Erro, ilusão e loucura. In: NOVAES, A. (org.) A crise da razão, São Paulo, Companhia das letras, 1995)

Journal articles: LAST NAME (fully capitalized), First name (initials capitalized). Paper title underlined. Journal name in italics. All content words of the title capitalized except for prepositions and articles. Place of publication, Volume and Number of the Journal, page range of the paper, Year. (For example: LEBRUN, G. As palavras ou os preconceitos de infância. Tradução Rubens Torres Filho. Revista Discurso. São Paulo, número 22, 1993.)

Dissertations and Theses: LAST NAME (fully capitalized), First name (initials capitalized). Title in italics. Location. Total number of pages. Academic level and field of study [Dissertation (Masters) or Thesis (Ph.D.)]. Institution in which it was presented, Year.

Internet (electronic documents): LAST NAME (fully capitalized), First name (initials capitalized). Title in italics, [Online]. Producer. Availability: access. [Access date], Year.

f)   We request that the conventions below be rigorously observed.

g)   References to authors throughout the papers shall follow this scheme: (LAST NAME OF AUTHOR, date) or (AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, date, page). For example: (MERLEAU-PONTY, 1984) or (MERLEAU-PONTY, 1984, p. 127.). Different titles by the same author published in the same year shall be identified by a letter after the date. For example: (LEBRUN, 1993a), (LEBRUN, 1993b).

h) Footnotes shall be relevant to the topic of the paper, limited to the minimum necessary and indicated by Arabic numerals in ascending order.

i) Ipseitas Journal will inform the authors on the stages of paper evaluation as well as of its acceptance and dates for publication. Letters certifying acceptance for publication will be sent to the authors.
